SHI FELLOW Brandon Jenkins on Strengthening Teacher Workforce Pathways
On September 20, 2022, Summer House Institute fellow Brandon Jenkins testified at a joint hearing of the Texas House Committees on Public Education and Higher Education. An aspiring Black male educator, Brandon offered concrete policy recommendations to improve the teacher workforce based on his pathway to certification as a paid paraprofessional working in the elementary school he attended as a child.
Summer house institute responds to the national teacher shortage
At Summer House Institute, we believe that the issues with our US public schools can not be resolved overnight, but as with anything, change takes a collective investment. There needs to be an increased focus on investing in more teacher pipelines like ours at Summer House.
