Summer House Institute recruits, develops, and supports Black and Latino college men on their journey into K–12 teaching. Through paid summer fellowships, year-round mentorship, and certification support, we’re building a stronger, more representative teacher workforce.

MEET OUR 2026 FELLOWS
THE NEXT GENERATION OF TEACHERS IS TAKING SHAPE.
In 2026, 50 young men completed Summer House’s six-week Houston Fellowship—a 94% completion rate.
Through classroom experience, mentorship, and brotherhood, they’re gaining the confidence, skills, and community to become the next generation of educators.

GILO "17" CAP
GILO 17 carries a story of remembrance, purpose, and love. We’re proud to partner with GILO 17 in honoring Bernard Scott, an innocent bystander of a Philadelphia high school park shooting. The number “17” is the age in which he was killed— furthermore, sharing the values behind the number 17 which represents insight, responsibility, self-discipline, strength, compassion, and peace. Together, we’re building pathways for more Black men to become educators and nurture the next generation.
